PIT LATRINE PROJECT
Projected January 2027

Over the years, we have facilitated multiple mobile medical clinics in Katwe Slum. After we facilitated the clinic in January 2025, one of the Clinical Officers that worked with us at the clinic asked if it would be possible to build a proper pit latrine in the slum for the residents that live there. He explained that having proper sanitation would reduce some of the communicable diseases that are very common in the slum area.

We, at Hands Serving Uganda, recognize that having access to proper washroom facilities is a basic necessity of life, particularly when living in a city such as Kampala. We are planning to build a pit latrine with 6 toilet stalls, 3 shower stalls and a washing station. The total cost of the Pit Latrine Project is estimated at $8,000 CDN.

Our goal is to raise all the funds needed before we return to Uganda in January 2027. We are hoping that the excavation and concrete will be poured before we arrive, so that our team will be able to assist with the building and the finishing touches of the pit latrine.
